I can't find much information about the new removable window feature on the DX3000 and was wondering what the pros and cons might be of this new design? Seems that I have seen two different versions of the DX3000 this winter, but haven't seen new new model set up anywhere to inspect this feature. Please assist. Tight Lines

I have the old version w/vinyl cover. It has held up great over the past 5 years. My buddy and I just purchased the DX 4000 w/canvas cover and that version is the cat's meow. Really like it. Hope this helps.

CD,

I can't seem to find anywhere online where it shows the newer split window option. If I remember correctly, I saw the split window at Gander in Saginaw and the full size windows at Franks in Linwood, but it could have been the other way around.

Advantages to the split (removable) window would include:

1. The ability to take the windows off for hunting.
2. Less likelihood for the windows to crack and split in extremely
cold conditions.

Having said this, I think I still like the old style better.

Might be best to give Shappell a call @ (888) 571-1144. They are located in Grand Ledge, MI.

I've said it once, I'll say it again, if could have only one shanty, it would be the DX3000.

Thanks Mac. I found one today for $189, but it was the one with the removable windows. I would never use it for hunting, and my Viking window is 6 yrs. old has yet to crack, so I think I will try to find the one without removable windows. Keep me in mind if you hear of any on sale. Tight Lines
