: Snow insulates ice and slows freezing by how much?

Here in W. Mi. we are having temps of -1 to 10 degrees for about a week, but we have had about 1' of snow. So, how much will this effect the ice making?

The trouble with the ice fishing here in the snow belt of West Michigan is that it doesn't get all that cold and we have lots of snow.

Actually one foot of snow is a pretty good insulator.

However, the only way to be sure is to get out, drill lots of holes before venturing out and insure that you have adequate ice.
