Best temp for waxies / grubs?

I know you should keep them in the fridge but it seems the fridge is killing them, to cold? Can I just keep them in sealed container outside the fridge?

I think the frig is too cold for waxies, spikes don't seem to mind it though. It seems like all the waxies I have been getting lately are dead.I left some spikes in my car for a few days when the temps were in the teens, didn't kill them.

Bait shops keep waxies at 54 degrees.

I keep waxworms in a closet on an outside wall of the house. This keeps them cooler than the rest of the house, closer to the optimum temp mentioned. I keep spikes in the frig.
