I'm looking for opinions on the best drop down ice house for frequent moving and use. I'm not too concerned about amenities, more interested in quality construction and trailering performance over the long haul.
thanks, LB

We had similar requirements.
Ended up ordering a United brand enclosed trailer and had crank down axles installed.
The place that did the work also had internal cabinets available so we purchased one that fits in the front. In that front cabinet we installed a cooktop as well as the furnance and room for a pair of deep cycles and an onboard charger.
Ordered the trailer fully insulated with a crank open vent in the top.
If your interested shoot me an email and I can send you some pics jsteinha1975@hotmail.com is my address.

A buddy of mine has the Zack Shack. "Spelling?" They are made in Bismarck, are easy to setup and you can customize them to your liking.

Their is a place in Hayfield , Iowa that builds fiberglass fish house with drop down trailers.
They are not finished off on the inside. They have styrofoam insulation on the inside.
But they are fairly light in weight. I bought a 6 by 14 for 4000 dollars.

I have a 6'6" x 12' Hayfield house finished on the inside with FRP paneling. I also had them build in a 6' long by 29" wide bunk in the front with storage under it. It is gel coated fiberglass on the outside like they use for truck utility bodies. It weighs 1,520 lbs with about a 80 lb hitch weight. Great for pulling with an ATV. It was under $3,600.

Do you think the trailers are strong enough to carry a atv to the lake inside. It fits ok but I am wondering if I should improve the floor.

Ryan, Do a google search for Hayfield Industries and they will have pictures, options and prices. on their website. They build a 6 1/2' x 12' and a 6 1/2' x 16'. I suppose if I posted the website address on here I would get busted. lol

They are built strong enough to haul an ATV. If you look at their web site, they have an ATV inside one of the ice houses. When I had the ATV tie downs installed in mine the guys at the welding shop commented about this fish house being built the way they should be. I figure they know what they are talking about. One nice thing about these ice houses is that the axle goes all the way through the frame and there is also a tube that runs from winch to winch. I think they have 3,500 lb axles also.

I have the 6x10 zack shack. Very well made & fast to setup. I ordered mine with the double door, drop-down hitch & extra window.
The house has spray foam insulation inside. Very easy to heat.
I usually haul the atv inside. Tows very easy.
They do have a website you can check out. If you need any more info, let me know.
When is somebody going to make a drop down that can fit a Polaris Ranger or Kawasaki Mule inside it, that's what I need. Can't even find a good enclosed trailer for those machines. Doors need to be higher than 75" and I haven't seen one yet. Any ideas?

Ok here goes. www.hayfieldind.com Nothing fancy, but they are well built and warm. Mine pulls really nice on the highway. One of the reasons that I bought one of these houses is that the owner of this business has his guys make ice houses in the winter rather than lay them off. Someone that will do something like that for his employees that will get my business every time.
