I think I am going to go with a smaller tank this year, I just have the standard ones that you exchange at the gas station but they are way to heavy to be on the move with.

I use an 11# tank. Small enough to be portable, yet has enough capacity to run my heater for a whole weekend.

I use an 11# tank that is shaped like a donut so it has more surface area for vaporization. It has worked very well for me no matter how cold it gets.

I use a 5lb tank works great for an entire weekend plus unless it's really cold and I have to blast the heater. In a normal year I go through 2 or 3 tanks.

I have the 11# tank. Man what a difference, it fits in a milk crate on the quad and I'm good to go.

The 6 lb works best for me because I keep moving a good bit..
I use a couple of 5 lb tanks.
One will take care of a weekend, but I have two, so that I am sure that one is always 100% full.
Most of the stores charge a service charge for filling the tanks, so I don't top off the tanks if they are 1/2 full. I take them to the end, and then I refill them.
Take care

If you want to buy 1, then buy an 11 lb, with the 5 or 6 lb tank it is hard to tell how full/empty they are and so are hard to trust for a full day fishing. Although even with an 11 at some point in time you wonder, "Is there enough fuel in there for today?".

With an 11 # tank, if you weigh it when full and then when it is getting empty, will the difference in weight be accurate enough to keep from running out? A good bathroom scale might give a ballpark weight?

Propane tanks are stamped with tare weight numbers. It will be on the top somewhere. My 11 gallon is something like T.W. 13.6 means that empty it weighs 13.6 pounds. Anything extra is propane.

I like the 10#. Fits in a 5gal bucket. Always worked well. I have friends with the 11#, also work just fine. I carry 2 extra 1 lb. tanks in the sled, plenty to get through the day when needed.
