I bought a new LX-3tc and have several question. I understand that when using the zoom you should use the yellow scale in the center, and the top to bottom is on the right side----12 noon to 6 o'clock. On the left side is a 0 to 5 scale, but it doesn't start on the bottom at 6'oclock as the instructions say, but at around 7 o'clock. Is that how you should use it? If using a 10-ft zoom, does the 0 to 5 become 0 to 10? To use the zoom, do you hold down the "down" key until the two yellow lines stop at the bottom to get the bottom 5 feet? Is the zoom usefull in seeing walleyes on or close to the bottom?

The interference rejection has 12 levels. How do you know how much rejection you're using? If you turn off the unit, does it go back to zero refection, or the amount of rejection you were using when you turned it off?

If I happen to be fishing in 21 or 23 ft of water, should I then use the 40 ft. scale?

Anything else you might add would be appreciated. Thanks!

When using the zoom you will ahve to use the down button to scroll down to the bottom.
Really know way to know where you are with the IR that I know of. I very very seldom have had to use mine. Even in a house with a Vex or Marcum. Usually the Vex will have interference issues if any do. Thats because the Marcum has more power I believe.
If your in anything over 19' of water I would go to the 40' scale. Easier to read in my opinion.
You can use the up and down buttons in zoom mode to get any 5 or 10' area that you may want to fish. Just not the bottom. This is very helpfull when fishing crappies or lakers. On Lake Superior I will use it for walleyes as well.
Nice units. I have had mine since they came out and its worked great. Next year Im going to the LX-5 for the dual transducer option.

Thanks for your purchase!

first of all, the zoom window does start around the 7:00 position. You will notice that once you get the unit in the water. when the screen splits and you move your window up and down to your liking, you can control which 5 or 10 feet you want to see. The nice part of the MarCum flashers with the variable zoom is you can zoom beyond the bottom. Other flashers on the market would pick up the top of the weeds as the bottom and that is where their zoom will start. With the MarCum I zoom into the weeds a lot.

As far as the interference rejection, there are 12 different levels and it does not affect the performance of the flasher at all. That being said there is no level of ir being used to monitor. Once you turn the unit off, the ir returns itself to the first setting.

While fishing in water deeper than 18 feet, I use the 40 foot scale and zoom the 10 foot window near the bottom if that is where the fish tend to be hanging out. If you start seeing fish up higher, just move the zoom up a little.

I have the same unit. As you indicated, on the water the zoom does not correlate to the 0 - 5 on the yellow scale per say. What then is the purpose of the 0 -5 on the scale?

Unit works great, just a question.

that 0-5 is more a reference than anything.

You can play around with the up/down and get it so the zoom works with that scale but like i said it is more of a reference.

I really dont even pay attention to the numbers at all. You could give me a bare flasher and I would be fine.
