I have done almost no ice fishing and would like to start doing some. If I am looking for Walleyes what type of structure do I look for in the Winter ? Do you have early winter, mid winter and late winter rules of thumb that you follow when looking for fish ? Any help appreciated ! Jim

I think that really depends on the lake somewhat. From my experience and I think it applies to all lakes from Prairie to the Shield is start where you knew they were last, i.e. in the later Fall. Ice fishing isn't a whole lot different than boat fishing. Start shallow, work your way deep. I think they roam quite a bit, just like open water.

The current issue of InFisherman has a decent article on ice fishing eyes and another on perch. Not bad introductory material. There's a bass on the cover but don't let that repulse you :)
