I am looking for advice on good places to rent big houses on Mille Lacs. I would like to rent an 8 man or bigger. Who would you suggest? Any word on Dickies Portside? Also, any predictions on how the fishing will be in early January???

We were at Nitti's Hunters point yesterday and today (12-27-07). I would NOT recommend this place. Our shack we rented was placed on an ice heave; we could only use 3 of the 8 rattle holes. We went to try to get a new shack and they would not accommodate. The shacks have scene better days, the gas lights flicked all night. We left after only one day as we were extremely frustrated with the service. The owner would not come out of his stupid plow truck to even talk to us. We wasted our money on this place and we will never return for any business. STAY AWAY FROM HUNTERS POINT!!!!!!!

Well, if you got out on the lake in one of Hunters shacks on the 27th, that was the first set of shacks to go out. And he has been busting a$$ to get that done. Is he pulling his big shacks that are the one’s normally rented? No! Is he letting people drive out? No. It’s early business he was trying to take care of. He could be like most of the resorts last week and just laugh at you for calling!
I commend George for taking the risk to pull some shacks early. Too bad a couple whiners ended up renting them!

I have no dog in this battle but...With that experience you call them whiners? That's a terrible experience, no question. First house of the season or last, doesn't matter. They're still getting charged. If you can't get the houses out there blocked properly so all the holes are at least usable, how can you stick a crew in it? They provide a service, from the sounds of it, that service was terrible. No?

10Pound,
Our largest deluxe rental fish house is an amazing 13' wide and 32' long with 14 holes. It contains two double bunks, five single bunks, TV, stereo, 2-burner hot plate, wall to wall carpet, inside bathroom with a porta-potti, and an awesome heating system. It will sleep up to 9 people so it would be a great fit for your group. We have ten of these big fish houses. We have availability for the upcoming weekend of Jan. 4-6th. We have very limited availability the following weekend and NO availabilty the last two weekends of January.
We look forward to hosting your group.
