Fishing knot-No Spin

A buddy of mine showed me a knot that he used for ice fishing that made his lure not spin. Does any one know what this knot is called, and a reference on how to tie it? I know when the knot was tied the actual knot was not against the lure, there was a loop and the actualy knot was above the lure. Any one know what I'm talking about, or have a knot that doesn't make your lure spin?

I did a search on this site on knots and see a reference to a scaffold knot, but for some reason that doesn't look right.

Great question. Even perch fishing my teardrops will spin. very annoying when a large fish races up and stops because the lure is spinning....I'd love to know of a knot that reduces twisting.

TIP: A Double Surgeon's Knot is a quick, easy way to tie a loop knot for a jig. This loop knot allows the jig to suspend as designed with minimal spin.

To tie the knot.

(1) Pass the line through the jig eye and double the lines to form a loop. Make a single overhand knot passing the jig through the lines. Do not tighten the knot yet.
(2) Bring the jig back through the overhand knot hole.
(3) Hold the jig in one hand and the tag end and line in the other hand; gently pull to snug the knot down towards the jig leaving about a 1/8 inch loop. Trim tag end.

I would just use Fireline or some other superline I use the dual lock snaps with NO Swivel. You have sooooo much better feel than with mono and it seems like No line twisting issues. I use a quality reel in the winter which also makes a difference. Most use a poor quality reel which make line twist in the winter even worse.
