: First dumb question

My trim switch on the control lever is intermittent. If I get on the water this weekend and it doesn't work at all, why couldn't I use my brim buster and trim it with the switch on the front console?
It may be a cumbersome affair, but the trim gage works regardless of which switch is used to move the motor.
This is the last weekend my grandson can fish before he goes home until next summer. I can't get a warranty repair appointment until the middle of next week. He isn't wanting to hear that I can't take him Saturday because of a dumb switch malfunction.
What about a bypass switch plugged into the harness at the control? Radio shake should have the stuff.
All those years keeping hand-me-down boats going with jb weld and duck tape was good training. And I thought expensive new equipment wouldn't require such measures. Silly me.

My boat has three switches for control of tilt/trim
One in the bow
One at the console
One on the motor

If you know it is just a flaky switch and not the trim motor/hydraulics then you sure should be able to use the other switch as needed

Did you check the relay's for the trim? Mine, for my kicker, seems to have a mind of it's own once in a while and this is the culprit

Where is this/these relay's, how do you test them?
I searched a few different forum boards and to me, there was no concise way to test a late model system. They may be the same, I don't know. I have to rock the control switch side to side while holding up or down trim to get it to work. This to me indicates a bad switch. The switch in the front console and on the motor don't miss a beat. That points to a bad switch also.
I'm a trained crop duster pilot and a glass engineer. Not really good at wires, although I do own a good multi meter and I can get by with good directions.

its not the relays if the other switches work. I think you are right in suspecting the switch, maybe a wire fell off even...

Hello: Check trim and tilt solenoids
