We just got back from a week at Spring Bay resort, and I highly recommend it if you wish to stay on the West end.

If you're looking to camp on Lake Vermilion, I'd stay at McKinley Park which is operated by the township of Breitung (spelling could be wrong).

There may be a new State Park near there in a few years. Does anyone know if the state and US Steel have reached an agreement on a price for the land east of Soudan State Park along Stuntz Bay?

Bigman,
You must be talking about the Muskie First outing that you attended in October. Nice fish pictures posted. Good Job!

If you are going all the way to Vermilion Lake, why not drive around the corner to Canyon Lake, which has way better fishing. There is a camp called North Country Lodgethere, which is very clean and not at all expensive. www.musky-fishing.com (http://www.musky-fishing.com)

I have stayed at several places and they all seem to be good. I stay at glenwoodlodge and like it alot. it is all the way in the northest corner, the cabins are nice and I never have to worry about rough water with my kids or grandfather. www.glenwoodlodge.com I stayed at life of riley this spring and it is nice too, very friendly and very service oriented. Good docking facilites and swimmig. Forest lane resort is a nice place on big bay, friendly people. Trancheffs cabins are right in the middle of east and west, nice poeple there too.

You may want to look at some of the private cabins that are for rent on Vermilion.

I'm staying at Spring Bay Resort in mid-October for a 40th birthday party. Have never been there before and am really looking forward to it. I would take any advice anyone wants to give about this lake. Reply here or to drjongy@hotmail.com

I'm not so worried about finding spots to fish but would like info on things such as water clarity and lure colors. Thanks again!
