With regards to the RAM 2000 holders, did the change from the Black locking ring to the Blue locking ring signify a generation change or product enhancement or was this simply a cosmetic change? Was there a point in time where they were only made with one color locking ring or the other or have they continued to make them with both colors of rod lock?

Don't know, I have both doesn't seem to be any difference.

I have both. Not sure if one is newer than the other. I notice no difference in either style. Fact is, I never use the locking rings.

I removed the locking rings from my Ram 2000's. I never used them in the past anyway. They just get in the way.
