Fished the Vermilion area last Friday with good results and was looking to head out that way again this Friday with my son if the area was still active. If you have any news it would be great to hear from you. Thanks

Good to hear someone is catching some. I am heading to the lake Sunday with a 21/2 hour drive from Lima. How far east of Loraine? Any steelhead in the area?

Thanks for the help.

not to many reports posted, must be the tourny on sat. out of lorain. we will be out in our new to us contender, pretty easy to spot. give us a shout on 79 and we will share all information we have. reports i have seen on here look to be in the 33-34 14-10 range. we were out in that area a couple of weekend ago and spotted fish on the lowrance but did not have dipsey equipment with us and i did not want top put out 200+ feet of line to try and get down that deep. we will be set up properly this weekend. we will be coming out of vermillion on sat. good luck and be safe.

Yes there is a tourney on Saturday. And the gps numbers fishogg mentioned above have been holding active fish this week.

Fish are holding anywhere from the 32 to 37 north line, and the 17 to the 00 west line. The 'pack' has been shutting the fish down pretty quickly in the a.m. Put a decent buffer zone between you and the pack and you'll do fine.

Harnesses have been the rule. Anything with gold and orange in it has been hot (for me, at least). Big dipsy, no ring, 3 1/2 at 105 back, and 1 1/2 setting 90 back has been the killer.

Thursday afternoon, 2p-6p
35/13 to 39/14 area working north & south did us well
Orange willow harnesses & anything w/ orange spoons
1 dipsey w/o ring, 2 setting, back 77 was our best.
Jet 30's back 60 - 90 also produced.
Cranks were skunked and put away
speed 2.0 - 2.4mph was best
Did hit a small pod with some 4-5lbr's
Minimal junk
First time out in 2 weeks and it fealt great. LOW HUMIDITY !!!

If you had to rely on those 32 boats that fished last weekends tourney for reports you would be SOL since 90% or more of them already don't do any posting, ****:censored:, half of them never get on a computer let alone post anything. I know because we are the ones that have to deal with phone calls and snail mail and faxes to take entries from them. Local tourneys on Erie have nothing or very little to do with why reports don't get made. there are thousands of boats out there every weekend. Your best info as always is the local tackle shops like Cranberry, Erie Outfitters, Sportsmans Outpost or Rich's in vermilion.

Anyway the bite around Vermilion and Lorain split wide open again this weekend after the last couple of weeks being mostly the east side of the bar. West, south and east of the bar all produced this weekend, also due north of Vermilion. Almost any program works but it's a daily movement of bait and fish so a little searching is sometimes needed. It's not necessay to make a big pack bigger by getting in the middle of it.
