I am just thinking about getting a GPS. So if anyone has good advice on which models give you the most for you money Im listening...

However, I would like to know if the ones that offer "hot Spots" maps include the GPS Coordinates for the reefs, sunken islands etc that are usually shown on the printed paper hot spot maps.

I would recomend the Garmin 162, I have had mine for a year and half,it is a very easy unit to use. I like the fact that you can go to Garmins web site and upgrade the software, I just enabled mine to use WAAS. There maps are good as far as US cd rom is concerned, I have not seen the Hot Spot maps so I could not comment on them, the Garmin web site is pretty good, they list and show what the Hot Spots look like, I have the internal ant. so I can use it on dash in my truck.

My vote goes to the Garmin 176. It is considered a fixed mount but still has the ability to run on batteries for ice fishing or hunting.
The GPSMAP76 is a nice unit too. I had one but sold it in favor of the 176 because the map76 had too small of a screen to run in a tiller style boat where it is not right in front of your face..like on a console equipped boat.
The only thing I don't like about the 176 is that there is no data card included. You need one if you want upload maps from Map Source CD's. I *think* the hotmaps come on a datacard tho. So you just stick it and go. The hotmaps not only include the waypoints for structure, it includes the the depth countours of the structure itself.

I have several HotMaps for my Lowrance Globalmap 100. None of them show boat ramps, etc. They do not have the table that maps GPS coordinates to fishing spots and buoys either. However, most of the other stuff is there.
