Looking to buy one. What should I be comparing between the different brands, in other words what should be my concerns when looking at the specifications of each unit. What are the depths that you can effectively use one, (taking into concideration water clarity) How far (distance) can one actually show fish or structure, 5'? 10'? 20'?
In other words if the camera is down 30' in fairly clear water how far away can you see something (maybe this is a job for someone that scuba dives, kind of like the precission trolling guide)

I have used the Aqua View for several years in various lakes and rivers with various water clarity characteristics. I've used other brands a few times that friends have had along also. It seems consistent, that visibilty we have on top stays the same all the way to the bottem. I've used them in 75' and had great visibilty in clear lakes and I've used them in 15ft. without much visibility in darker lakes. I can only say, I have great luck with Aqua View. I drag it out over the rough ice in a sled , over the waves in the summer and it still keeps runnin'. Great fun and learning tool.
