Anyone have any input/experience with these? Thinking of doing a total electronics upgrade, new 113C, 27C and a Broadband.

There has been a lot of discussion with good information regarding the broadband sounder on this board

http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=189025&start=1&highlight=broadband+sounder&highlightmode=1

What I got out of it was that it's an improvement for deeper open water type angling and if you were in water less than 50' that it wasn't much of an improvement.

One of my friends has it and he really likes it, he said night and day difference, he's an Erie guy so it's being used in deep water but shallow as well. He said he doesn't know how much it would do for me bc I have a shoot thru hull ducer and I can mark fish very well at high speeds this is where it excels on his aluminum boat with a transome mount ducer.

Thanks. I bit the bullet last night and ordered a complete set of e-tronics. Everything is on back order so it will be awhile before I get it installed but will give it a try for our deep water slab spoon bite in the fall/winter. BTW - will be going on an alum boat.

Anyone used the broadband in 30 ft or less. does it really show up fish as well as claimed?

I am testing a LCX 37C & LCX 113c with and wo the Broadband Sounder have the new update 1.2 for it and the v2.3 for the Sonar units with the shallow water on Auto.

Will post again. AS I have a Beta upgrade to try over 2.3 so that too will come out soon!

Really interested in your results, I am going to Lake of the Woods the first week of October. I am fishing a Ranger 619VS. Looking to just put the sounder on the bow mount for viewing when we are fishing deep holes and reefs. Seems like a lot of money for the difference unless it really shows up fish. Looking for anything to give me an edge to my buddies!!!!!

I have had the broadband sounder hooked up to my thru hull trans and 520. I can't say if it is better but it is differant. I have been usually 40' or less. I installed broadband update to help with shallow water readings works fine.

I heard that Lowrance is coming out with new units this winter. Most old units are back ordered. I would wait till new units broadband may be install in new units.

Sorry my login is DJK50164 I cant remeber my password. I have always been a lowrance guy. So last fall I wanted the ethernet cabability real bad. I had to make my own cable to make it work since they were not avalible last year. This spring I bought a broadband sounder a switch to rig the boat up too 2 27-c and 1 7200. The feature of seeing the sonar picture around the boat is great but it sure would be nice to see 2 sonar signals on the same screen. What I mean is the person in the front of the boat can see what the person in the back of the boat see,s or vs. Ask Lowrance about this and they say that this is exactly what the do not want. I understand the interference between to trans. but I fish mostly waters that are 60' or less. I used graphs on 18-20' boats and as long as I was not in really deep water or on a steep break the two graphs together worked great. I am geussing that most of the people who fish these conditions would agree. Well I am not trying to write a book but I just happend to get of the line with lowrance tech support and I was asking them why the broadband sounder does not have a very good shallow water performance. His reply was that it was not designed for shallow water use. I have had my unit lock up when it is in shallow water 10-0'(Software1.2). If I have my front 27c (trolling motor) It does not lock up until the depth is about 3' or less. I have did a lot of experimenting with the broadband sounder in midwestern lakes and my opinon is to not waste the money on the unit. At first I was really hoping that this would be the answer. Even the lowrance tech told me that if this was the type of water that I fish that I should take the unit back. He said that the 27c have plenty of power and resolution for this water. Lowrance always have made a good product but are always behind on support.

Thanks for the open dialog. That is enough for me to not buy and waste any money on it. I will keep watching to see if they do other updates and simply utilize the units I have.

I have the broadband sounder hooked to a 112 and the difference in clarity of the picture is like night and day with the sounder. you can go back and forth if you have two tranducers hooked up (which I have) by changing the setting on the 112 best way to describe it is like regular TV over high definition. It also clears out the clutter that you get in some lakes. Only problem is in very shallow water (under 5 ft) it goes crazy but I think it is just to powerfull for that shallow. In my opinion if you are a serious fisherman or fisherwoman it is a great addition to your electronics package you will not regrete you purchased.
