Murphys Law, I started my vacation yesterday and now my 2005 Merc 150 carbeurted 2 cycle Saltwater refuses to start.

It cranks and is getting fuel, when I trim the motor up and down I'm getting fuel/oil out of the prop hub. I have checked the kill switch, neutral start switch, ignition fuses and all connections under the cowl. I have pulled all the plugs and cleaned them. Doesn't even sound like it wants to start, just cranks?

I fished yesterday and the motor ran fine. I pulled into shallow water to scrub the bottom and when I went to start it back up it would not fire and I had to return to the dock with the kicker.

Anybody have any other ideas before I pull it and take it to the dealer?

Thanks!

I finally got it to fire, ended up it was just flooded big time. When trying to start the outboard, the bendix (starter) drops out as it senses the flywheel turning faster than the bendix even though the motor doesn't actually start. I checked the ignition switch to the starter relay, when I turn the key to the start position the starter relay goes hi and energizes putting the 12v to the bendix. The bendix then engages the flywheel and starts to crank the motor, before the motor actually fires, the bendix drops out for some reason (even though there is still 12v to the bendix). When I was clearing the flooded condition, I pulled all the plugs and the kill switch and cranked to motor for 10 seconds at a time with the throttle set at WOT (bendix stayed engaged the whole time as it couldnt fire because of the kill switch). After I did that 3 times, I put the plugs and kill switch back in and the motor fired right up. After letting it run at idle for 5 minutes, I turned the motor off and let it sit for a few minutes and then I was back to the situation that started the whole ordeal with the bendix only engaging momentarily and then drops out. Anybody have any ideas? BTW, I have dual batteries that are both fully charged.

Thanks again!
