I have been running a merc 23 pitch high five. On my 2000 tracker. 225 optimax I have made some phone calls looking for info on other props.Any of you other trackerheads have any experence in this matter. The high fives are ok out of the hole but lack top end
speed.I do not run a jack plate nor will I.

Thanks in advance

Joe,

Iam also running a Targa 2000 and I am also running a high five 23 pitch prop. I feel my hole shots are slow but my top end I am running between 57-59 mph on gps. Do you use a hydrofin? I have a fin because the pros I talked with said its a must to get them out of the water. I don't feel they produce any drag to force me to lose speed though.

I too run the 23 high five. It works well for me. Depending on conditions 53 to 56 MPH. Last years boat would tickle 60 once every three months when all of the stars and planets lined up properly, but it did do it a few times.

I know guys a running the 23 Tempest and I may give that a try too this summer.

Enjoy the boat,

Johhie,

Although I do not run the same boat as you and cannot give any info that would relate directly to your rig, you will probably be suprised by the Tempest Plus.
I have run a high five and tempest plus, and find the tempest gives great top end (over the high five) yet has almost the same bite during hole shot. It is definitely worth trying to see if it work in your situation.

The question that I have is what kind of rpm are you turning with you current prop. The High 5 is a hole shot prop and that a Tempest or even a Mirage with large vent plugs will give you a better hole shot. These props have a larger diameter so you might be able to raise your motor up on the transom to get more of the lower unit out of the water. That boat seem to move at a good speed right now, you just want a little more.

Hi Joe- A Tempest 23 large Hub is the fastest prop on the T 2000. It has excellent bow lift with good control and hole shot. You will sacrifice some of the bite a High Five gets in rough water but the Tempest's larger diameter blades do a very good job of staying hooked up. My boat will pop up at 3/4 throttle and stay on plane at 22-24 mph. I mount the motor as high as it will go and use a SS professional stabalizing plate "The Edge" by Cobra Marine. The plate is basically out of the water at WOT and I wouldn't run a Targa without one. See you in Minot in a few days? JC
