I have 2001 Lund Mr Pike, I have 115 four stroke, would not go any smaller, it pushes it about 44-46mph, it is a great fishing boat, lots of room, everybody who I taken out is impressesed with the interior space, it is also a very stable boat you can stand on the sides and it hardly leans, I have taken it out on Millelacs lake in some rough
water and it handles it great. Interior storage is great. I fish by myself sometimes and it is easy boat to handle. If want any more details let me know.

I have a 1999 mr pike with a 115 ficht and love it! It will do about 44-45 max with kicker,gas,2 people, and a full load. It is a very stable boat and handles rough water ok. The interior is the best part of this boat, LOTS of room and LOTS of storage. A GREAT all around fishing boat. Good luck and buy the boat!

Tom,
I've been doing some research on a new boat and I've pretty much decided on the Mr. Pike 17 or the Crestliner Fish Hawk. I'd like to rig either boat with a 115 4 stroke, preferably a Yammie. If that boat is a 17 footer and you lose interest in it, I'd appreciate a shout. I'm in PA as well and would probably jump at the chance to save a grand or two on a leftover.
My email address is wragosta@earthlink.net if you decide that you don't want the boat.

I second Slipnot's assessment! Great Boat. Mine is a 1998 powered by a 70 Johnson 4 stroke which has performed flawlessly while pushing me at 30-35mph depending on wind, etc. Would sell Granny before I'd sell this boat!

Love my Lund, but ohhhhhhhhh how I miss that Harley! The Pike is green but the Hog was a Wild Irish Rose!
P.S Almost forgot......The Bike was jet black! :)

I think you will like it. I liked the 2001's lay-out alot.
We fished 4 guys out of one at Ft. Peck in terrible weather and a 35 mile run. Not bad. I thought it would be awfully crowded, but it wasn't bad.

It really isn't a technical question. It is an opinion question. You'll get plenty of opinions on this board.

I've run a 2000 Mr.Pike17 for the last two years. I believe it is the most versatile 17 footer on the water. It handles the 3-4 footers extremely well if you have her propped right, stays on plane at slow speeds and is a great skinny water boat for pike/largemouth. Too bad Lund changed the design for 2002. The Angler is now similar but doesn't have the dual prolong livewells like the pike had. Mine is currently for sale since upgrading to 1800 ProV for tournaments..Email at sshuffman@cogeco.ca to discuss further.

Yep I looked at the 2002 and don't care for the interior layout, with pole covers I can put a dozen rod's in the side lockers. Also the interior is more roomy without the wide gunnels. I have always wondered how fast a 135hp engine would push. I like the dual livewells allows you to distribute the wieght.

I as well have the 2001 Mr. Pike and love it. Mercury 115. I am likely going with a SS prop this year, and I know that I have to take some measurements once the water softens, but out of curiosity what prop are you running?

Moreeyes I was wondering if you could tell me what props you tried, how they performed and what stock prop came with your rig. My 115 EFI 4 Stroke should arrive soon and I hate the thought of trying out props. I posted for prop advice on one of the Bass Boards but did not get good response.. EMail me if you like EsoxTracker@msn.com

I tried out the following props,
Stock 19' ran at 6000rpm at 42 mph
Turbo/Stilleto 19' ran at 5400rpm at 44to 45 rpm to low, with a load it ran at 41mph at 5000rpm.
Merc. Vengaence 18' ran at 5600rpm at 43 mph
Merc. Trophy I think it was 20' ran at 44mph at about 5400 rpm, this prop caused excessive vibration in gear at idle, the dealer said this commen with 4strokes and heavy props because they fire different, a softer hub would cure this.
Ballistic 19' had the best result's runs at 5600rpm at 45+ mph good holeshot and held the rpms up with load better.
Let me know if you have any more questions. One more thing I would have liked to try the Merc.prop, the name slips me at the moment but it has the smaller blades, the dealer did not have one.

I remember the other Merc prop, Laser 2 but according to the dealer they do not make a 19' just a 20' pitch.

Nice Comparison... I do know there are a few variables that may affect RPM, did you do the comparison on the same or similar weather day? On my last Motor, a Johnson 60HP I had surprising results with a SOLAS ALCUP 3 Aluminum Prop. It actually performed better than a stainless I tried. The boat only went 34-38MPH though.. I know we are not comparing apples to apples here but thought you might like to see this prop. www.solas.com

yes I did,had them all with and spent a couple of hours testing, one other note Yamaha own web site shows 45@6000 rpm with their SS prop, they are quite expensive.
