This weekend I was pulling kids on the tube and I turned a little too sharp, the prop lost its bite the rpms went up to around 6400 and the rev limiter alarm went off. I backed of the throttle as soon as I heard it go off. Can a person do any damage to the motor when this happens?

The reason for a rev limiter, is to prevent the engine from over-revving - thus preventing damage.

No damage with a momentary venture beyond the rev limit. That's what the sound is there for. You'll be fine.
