I went to bass pro shop in gurnee ill. last night and was looking at the Garmin 240. The sales man said why pay 100.00 more for the 240 when 160 will do the samething. I thought that the picel count gave you a clearer picture and the fish showed up better. He said no unless your fishing 200 ft deep then it will give you a better view of whats down there. I'm not that hip on locators so some advice would be appreciated. Thanks Tim

I think maybe he was confusing wattage with pixel count. The more pixels, the more definition on the screen. The more wattage, the better the signal in deeper water.

Tim,

This was discussed on WC and it will probably totally mess with your head BUT it argues both sides of this issue. If nothing else, it is fertile ground to research!

Ranger, WOW now I'm totally confused. I read all those post and now I don't know what to think. Guess I'll just buy the 240 and be done with it. Thanks Tim

I bought the 240 about two years ago, and IMHO you'll be getting the absolute best bang for your buck in a fishfinder...hope you like....(:
