Has anyone ever seen something like the Towtector (sp?) that could be attached to the trailer tongue?

To protect your boat? or?

Maybe not what you are after, but these are popular out west for boat protection.
The site is : www.mtrockguard.com
You'll have to type it...without the spaces.

I just bought a glass boat and put a towtector on before leaving dealer. They bolt right on receiver, come with a bracket to mount on garage wall to hang your receiver and towtector on when you aren't using it. Mine cost $249.00.

Yea, to protect the boat. Was thinking if my class II hitch didn't work with the Towtector because the receiver is too small maybe I could make it work by putting further back on the trailer tongue. But, that probably wouldn't stop the rocks that would come between the fender and the skirt. Argg.

Have you thought about something like this?

I put one on my rig and I couldn't be happier with it.

I also made my own version of the Towtector with a lenth of 2X2 square aluminum and some mudflaps. It attaches to the trailer hitch with a simple u-bolt. Total cost was around $50 and it works great.

I just traded my 1/2 ton pickup for a 3/4 ton diesel. Towtector is now about 2 to 3 inches too short. You will need to measure from hitch to ground and mack sure you buy the right one. So I now have a Towtector for a 1/2 ton Chevy or GMC non Z71 for sell. PM me if interested with email address. Will sell for $200.00 plus frieght. Brand new, less then 1 month old, less than 600 miles.

Brent, I think you can simply buy new brushes for your towtector that will fit the lenght you need.

Thanks, I just called the dealer and you can buy replacement skirts. I will probably go that route.

Do any of you guys tow with a dually? I've not looked too hard into
the towtectors and such because I figured it was a lost cause trying
to stop all the rocks - it's about 93" outside-to-outside of back tires.
I didn't know how well it would work sticking out so far, wind buffeting
and such. Also, I lose about 4" of height when I load the camper up, even
with the airbags - heavy slide-in. Can you adjust them?
I do have molded plastic guards on it, but they are 6-8" or so off the
ground -
My boat (and trailer) sure is catching heck though

I cannot sing the praises of the Trailer Tux enough...great design and protects the boat and trailer from any possible road issues.

You will be so happy with it...best product out there...it costs more than others but once you see the way it covers the boat and trailer and how far back it covers you will know where the money is spent. I pent a lot of time researching the various products on the market and they just don't compare.
