I fish the Legend Elite series and love it. I would strongly recommend buying one of these rods. They are very lite and ultra sensite. I'm sorry to say that I have not fished the Fenwick rod, I'm a St.Croix guy.
I really think though that either rod will be a good rod. It all depends on how the rod feels in your hand.
ST. Croix!!!!
Made in America and an excellent rodmaker.

I have both makes in comparable models. Either way you can't go wrong, that's for sure. My personal choice would be the Techna and the main reason is the way it fits MY HAND, like Youngeye said . If I was to nit-pick, the Techna's eyes will freeze up much faster below 32 degrees then the St Croix. On the other hand I think you can cross the eyes on a hook set better with the Techna, more back bone that is. I suggest you go to a dealer that carry's both. Give it the once around the block- kick the tires and ENJOY. Good luck with your pick. Better yet, buy one of both models. LOL Just my 2 cents worth. Hutch

I have not tried the Legend Elite yet but I have the Avid series rods and am very happy with them. My current favorite though, is the Fenwick AVS59MLF. Really a sweet rod. Also, if you decide to go Fenwick, I saw that Reeds had them the other day for $100 off as an internet special. Can't go wrong with either choice. Good luck in your choice.

Ebay has a custom made St. Croix Legend ES63MXFCS going for $150 right now. That is half of its retail price. Check it out.

Legend Elites are the best for jigging. That is my opinion.

I have a Legend Elite, a Techna AV and a Loomis IMX and for my jigging (usually in current w/ heavier jigs) the IMX is hands down the best of the three. The Techna would be my second choice and the Legend Elite a distant 3rd. In my opinion the Legend Elites are not labeled properly. They are very slow and dead when used w/ jigs in the higher side of their rating. For very light jigs, the Legend Elite feels very nice and would be a nice choice. The Techna feels very good in my hand, not as sensitive as the Loomis. A nice choice.
