stupid question-- can anyone tell me if the fitting on the lower unit oil pump I used on my old 50 hp johnson will fit my Honda BF90? I'm about ready to change the oil for the first time, and don't want to find out my pump won't work once the motor is dry. At the same time, I don't want to spend 12 bucks on a new one I may not need.

My BF90 Honda is a 1997 model, and the lower unit was made by Mercury-Canada. Merc props, prop shaft seals, water pump impellers, etc.
I guess all you can do is drain the oil, and try your oil pump threads. If they don't fit, it's easy to add oil with a funnel, it's controlling the drain that's troublesome.

Got the answer from the dealer when I was there. Uses metric threads, they had a pump adapter there that fits. Same as Yamaha I think.
