Guy at work and myself were talking about oils and our 4 stroke outboards, he mentioned he'd like to go synthetic and asked what was a good brand, most of my exprience has been with motorcycles so I couldn't help him but it got me thinking also.

Seems to me I remember a post on synthetic oils and filters for 4 stroke outboards, might have been just filters though?

Anyway a search came up blank and being its a slow day at work I'm going though all the old posts on the Walleye boat and Motors section...all 1109+ pages of them, I'm at page 104 and I think I could use a little help...:help::happy:
Anybody remember a post like that perchance??

Or does anybody have a good website/? for reviews on synthetic oils that are marine rated?

Google gave me 46 million or so amsoil hits and nothing really for reviews/suggestions other than advertising.

A few years ago, both Bass&Walleye Boats and TrailerBoat magazines (same publisher) had an article comparing automobile oils to 4-stroke OB manufacturer's oils.
Honda oil was very similar to Castrol, Mobile 1 was highly rated, as was Pennzoil fossil oil.
Search their websites and look for the archived article.

Try squeeze some that catfish oil into that Yamy:D

I ran Amsoil in my Yamy F115, Bass and Walleye boat did a test a while back and some of the OEM marine engine oils did not do much for corrosion
