My Ranger 1850 reatta live well is not holding water and is also letting water in when it is closed. I pulled the weed guard off it and two black rubber pieces came out. Not sure what they go to. They are about 1 1/4' long by 1/8 thick with a rib running most of the way on one side. If you have it on Auto it keeps enough water in it to maintain health fish. If it turns off then you get down to about 4-5" of water in the live well. When it is off and the selection dial is turned to auto (drain valve) it will still let water in.

Any ideas on what I can do with it. I am in need to a trip to the dealer but my fishing keeps getting in my way of taking it in.

OK, I think the valve may be sticking sometimes and that is why you are losing water? As far as water coming in, if it is on auto, it will let water in. If you want to keep it dry, turn it to recirc. I would check the valve itself. I believe it is in the floor where your cartridge pumps are. The rectangular black removable piece on the floor in front of the livewell. You should see the wire/cable going to the valves inline and can determine if it is sticking. Sometimes it gets sand in there. Sometimes you can take a garden hose and just flush backwards through the rear drains on the boat. This has happened on previous Rangers I have owned. Hope this helps. Bill
