Can either freeze? Which will work?

LCD will get sluggish if its too cold but once you warm up the shanty and turn on the LCD it will warm up after 10 minutes. If you don't have much heat in there then I would not suggest a LCD. The plasma is just going to be more fragile than the LCD. The only thing with high tech electronics that are not sealed and gas filled is they will get condensation in them and that would kill them. If you keep them in a warm truck or in a cooler that is warm until the shanty is warm then no problem but if you are leaving them in there than that might not be the best for them and more of a chance of getting stolen.

Are LCD's gas filled. My plan is to leave it in the house so freeze / thaw will be a factor. Will that kill either of them?

Bud has a LCD in his King Crow, I think it's a 27" Westinghouse. Cheaper TV but it has a good picture. He's had it for 2 seasons without issue. He does make sure to warm up his house good before turning it on, it gets used a lot.

We've enjoyed many Wild games, helps pass the time between rattle reels!

How funny!! In the last couple of days I have been wondering the same thing. I have done limited research but it currrently looks like I will go with 32" LCD. My lcd will stay in the cold and I will cover the screen with a large garbage bag each time I shut it down.

I have had LCD screens in my cars for the last few years and they have seen -30 and still work great.

I have been looking at a permanent satelite dish and so far the Kingdom seems the cheapest. Are you going to use a dish???

No not gas, its a like a thick gel that has to twist to change color of each pixel. What happens is when the gel gets cold it gets stiff and the colors will change slower. It wouldn't hurt it to freeze. Most of the LCD'd for sports gears like GPS, locators are made with a different LCD material that can handle the cold. I don't know if all LCD's today are made with the better material.

Have to use a dish next year but I'm on a lake close to relay towers and get great reception. I've heard that color LCD's are in trouble after about zero but nobody seems to know for sure. I guess thats what warrantys are for. PS- What is this goofy image verification for? I've been gone for a few weeks. Three sites I use went to this format but no verification. What a pain!

I had a scanner, that had a LCD screen. Used to leave it in my car. My car was parked outside, when it got really cold. Didn't totally ruin the screen, but left places where it would not work.
