: Bow Roller Wearing Through

The bow of my boat keeps wearing though my bow roller right down to the bolt holding it in place. This has caused damage to my bow keel. I do use my boat and trailer over some rough, gravel roads, but the problems seems to be a be getting worse. Obviously there is some movement between the bow and the bow roller, but it seems tight and secure when trailering. Any suggestions on the cause of this and possible solutions to correct the problem before it wears right through my bow keel?

maybe you could add one of these to your hull, and minimize the sharp edge that's destroying the bow roller?

I had the same problem. I replaced the bow roller with a
polyurethane roller, problem solved.....

Also, I started using a ratchet strap from boat bow eye around the trailer tongue
and back to the bow eye to eliminate any bouncing...

Run a strap from the trailer frame, across the bow behind the front cleats to better keep the boat from bouncing on rough roads. It doesn't have to be very strong, one of those with the lever release should work.

Try one of these, they will help the bow from moving!

As you drive, the trailer frame does flex and that could cause the bow to rub on the bow stop and wear through it. The suggestions to tie down the bow more securely are good.

The picture of the Keelguard Scuffbuster product is interesting, because the picture shows an improperly-adjusted trailer. The bow ring is not cranked against the bow stop as it should be and that would contribute to excessive rubbing. Make sure your trailer adjustments are correct as you look to solving your problem. Good luck!

I was having the same issue and added a Cabela's bow tie-down. That seems to have been the cure.
