I've installed a stereo system and 2 speakers in my 2006 619 Fisherman. I placed the 2 speakers on either side of the front seats, similar to the way in which Ranger installs them. Problem is that when you're up on the front platform, it's difficult to hear them without turning them up and blasting anyone in the back of the boat. A friend of my son's has the same problem with his 620 (factory installed stereo).

I've looked at installing a second set of speakers on the front of the counsels facing forward which I think would work well. However, the speaker grills stick out about an inch and will interfer with opening the cooler door and baitwell door. There's no clearance between the edge of the doors and the front wall of the counsels.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I might overcome this problem? I've looked all over and can't find any speakers that I could recess so that they're flush and wouldn't interfer with the doors. I've also looked at installing the speakers on the gunnels, but am afraid that with the wiring chase running in that area on each side of the boat, I wouldn't have room and am asking for problems.

Thanks for any help!

Just a thought but what about adding a jack on the front plate to be able to plug in a removable speaker I'm sure you could put it on a ram mount or something similar and it could be stowed away when you are not using the front casting deck. You should be able to use any good outdoor speaker this way.

Why worry about the person in the back of the boat so much?

I mounted one speaker in the bow of the boat in the removable pannel where the swithces are for motor trim etc. You do need to cut a whole in the pannel to mount, but it then mounts flush and looks stock. This way the sound not only is easily heard in the bow, but it also carries to the back when moving. You never really need to adjust the vloume vvery much.
