Interesting challenge?
Where and when it it held, and what is the top forage in the fall?

Now keep in mind this is based on one rig only:
Rig a medium heavy 7' bait caster with 14 pound test mono. Attach a Keel Sinker. Run a 18 inch Flouro leader to a medium size In-Line Spinner. Cast, drift, or troll all you want.
Get an artists "Color Wheel".
In stained blue/green water, or low light situations (including wind, clouds, compounded depth) run brighter colors, more direct contrast between colors, and run them slower.
In clear water (more blue than green), middle of the day, no clouds, at all depths, use smaller baits, less flash, more right angled color combinations/ more on the camouflage side (not a direct contrast), and run them in a darting action, stop and go with more stop than go. In some cases, maybe even jigging/Dead Sticking them on the bottom.
If you can't change colors, you will be limited to only one application. So, shoot for the middle of the road on the above. Lean toward the weather forecast of the day. . . bright/cloudy - wind/no wind
The deeper you run the lure, or the more wind you encounter, increase the size of the Keel Sinker.

Its on the Columbia River one day deal from 2 pm till 10 pm.Should be some baby shad just starting to come down. Also some perch and squawfish.
How and why did perchjerker edit my first post at least thats what it says here on this end?I don't see any changes?

The chain weight strategy offers a lot of flexibility, I like it.
3-way rigs may do well too?
I would would roll the dice and lean to the Salmo Sting #12 Suspending in the Silver Metallic Bleak. Just because of the Squawfish and trout forage favored by Colombia river sumo eye's.

If your only allowed one plug for the derby & if you loose it you are SOL, then I would probably work a long bill floating crank (tripper) & cross my fingers :)
