:) ;) Who hooked it up that way? (Lemme guess...the factory)
Actually you maybe got lucky.
Here's what we learned (the hard way, of course) to do to eliminate those problems.
We just leave the troll batteries alone. Hook the troll motor and charger as per normal... but nothing more.
Then, we add another battery in the back of the boat...and hook the kicker (and isolater) to that one. (I have mine in that floor compartment behind the fuel cell).
Now you will have enough juice to troll your kicker while using your power steering...and if you run the kicker battery down... just start the Verado... it'll charge your kicker battery up pretty darned fast.
We encouraged "the factory" to rig them this way... maybe they do by now???
I dunno?..... As you know, Chris...... I'm now an old has-been ;)

There is a bulletin service # 2008=04 related with the AGM batteries

Thanks Andre.
Good info!
But guys... don't get too alarmed at this.
If you call Mercury, they will explain ...this is merely a recomendation...and a recent one, at that.

Sorry for reserecting this old thread, but for those of you with the 4 or 5 battery fix for the excessive amount of draw used by the Verado power steering, how are things working? Is the extra battery just a temporary patch that gives extra battery reserve, or is it a more permanent fix? Is there a better solution out there?

I did 4 batteries right off the git-go and have had no issues on my 2008 2010 Explorer Sport w./ 200 Verado and power steering.
I haven't heard of issues since everybody started doing enough batteries...about 2006...?
