Hello all of you McGyver's out their.

Currently using a Suburban for my tow vehicle. This buggy has the old fashion type drop down tail gate. This hinders one's ability to reach into the back area to retrieve things. Especially when all of your fishing gear is inside. You can only reach in so far or grab things from the side doors. Either way it is a major pain in the butt.

Was thinking of mounting some type of small skinny rollers or ball bearings strippes on the carpeted floor so a sheet of plywood could float, slide back and forth, in and out to get at the items.

Anybody have any idea ( source ) of where one could find such items. Websites, catalogs, etc.

Thanks for your reply's.

Cabela's catalog "truck" section used to have such a thing. The problem with using a sheet of plywood is that when you roll it out, you have to support the weight of the sheet and its contents that are no longer in the bed.

I have seen at Duck's Unlimited August sessions exactly what you are talking about with drawer-like framing so that you would not have to support the weight of the "rolled out" section ... the framing does. It involved drilling holes in your truck bed and anchoring the framing through the holes, if I recall correctly. However, I did not get the name of the manufacturer ... sorry.
