: tiller conversion

Hello ,
I wish to convert my 1991 70hp yamaha into a tiller . I am hopeing you can help with some info on which tiller handles I can purchase to fit this motor. Here is the model and serial numbers. Any help would be much appreciated. Where I live there is a used tiller handle for sale. These are the numbers for it , would this fit my motor.

Model number is 70TLRP.
Serial number is 6H3 L 477175

These are the parts I can buy used.

The part number for the tiller is 63D-W0084-00-4D
number for the wire harness assembly is 63D-82590-10-00
part number for the steering friction assembly is 63D-42508-00-00

You can look up Yamaha part numbers online. Just lookup the numbers required for your motor, and see if the used ones match. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/survey402/402invitation.html?div=outboard I see they put a survey link in there, just select no and go on the the main site.

I tried to do that for him when he first posted, but the tiller handles of that vintage are not listed under the motor parts breakdown. There must be an accessory or application guide that provides the part #'s to do the conversion, but I couldn't find it. We may need a Yamaha dealer to help out on this one.

May want to try Twin City Outboards in Shakopee Mn. They sell used outboards of all years and kinds.
Everybody around here talks about how knowledgable they are. Maybe they can steer you in the right direction.

Not sure if this helps much, but "Googling" the part # of the tiller handle gets a motor result of a 2000 40TLRY.
