Does anyone have any troubles with their 27C or 520C screens locking up and flashing for seconds to minutes? I have tried everything from rewiring to new transducers with no luck. I sent in the 27C once, but Lowrance says their is no problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it happen when you are in water less than 10' deep? If so, I see it a lot. Problem goes away when I go unto deeper water.

I have 2 27c's and am not real happy at this point. I have had them since 5-18-08 and am getting closer to having the back unit keep bottom. Not great yet but better. Both units on occasion will do what you lay out in your post but I found that only happened while I was in shallow and muddy and weedy bottom. I switched to the shallow water mode on both and that has seemed to help some. I will be out the next couple of weekends and will be able to give them both a solid try for long periods of time. I will try to keep you posted.

Go to Lowrance and download the latest upgrades for your unit. I believe there has been other posts on this subject and doing the upgrades should help.

I have the x510c its a piece of crap I wish I had my x75 back. Lowrance has a software issue with no fix for it . The latest update will not fix it. My graph is on its way back from lowrance for the second time. There trying a old software version to see if that works. I want out from Lowrance. mine too locks up in shallow weedy water. useless junk. I going to Humminbird if the graph still doesnt work right. My second call to Lowrance the rep told me to use the graph in manual mode with a set deph scroll. This is unacceptable. My 8 year old x75 was ten times the graph than the new stuff they have out now, it worked flawlessly.

We tried the software upgrades also and this did not fix anything. I'm starting to think that Lowrance needs to do a little more R&D before they offer these new units. The software problems have irritated enough people that they will start to lose customers soon. I can't afford to replace these with another brand, but when I can, I will do my homework before purchasing.

I've mentioned this before a few weeks ago, but for me All my issues with flashing, locking up were cured by going backwards and reinstalling 1.6 software in my lcx110. Can't say for sure if it will work for you, but believe me I tried everything and was fully frustrated, now it works great. good luck

I, too had issues with my LCX28hd..... did the upgrade and it didn't help. Found out through a different web-site that Lowrance had issues with faulty TRANSDUCERS. Got a new one (exchange from Cabela's) and have had no problems since. Works like a champ, now! With the software upgrade to version 2.3

Lowrance called back today and told me there is going to be a new update coming soon that is supposed to fix the shallow water issues. I was asked if it happens in weedy areas and sharp drop off areas. This is where they have found the biggest share of the problems to be. Hopefully this will finally fix the problem.

Hopefully good news toolboy!
Both my units have had the newest updates back in May but have not worked worth a dam since I purchased them. I look forward to the new update on the shallow water issue. I still have problems in under 10' with mucky weeding bottoms...you know... good spring crappie and bass locationsl

I have a Vexilar Edge 2 on order. Done with Lowrance. Thats how my Lowrance is getting fixed after shipping back and fourth two times for a non fix and a ruined fishing season. Looking forward to having a plain jane durible Mono Sonar again, like the X75 I once had. I hope Vexilar is all people say it is. Great reviews.

Sounds familiar. "Don't worry- all the problems are fixed in the next software release, which should happen real soon now." :-)
OK- Who's brave enough to be the first to do this update and report on the results?
I had this issue with my X27c. I sent it back to Lowrance they sent me a new one and it works great. They both have the same version of the software so I think it's an hardware issue.

My X25C locks up in weeds, after I updated the latest software. I now have to call Lowrance and have the original software sent to me.
