I've recently encountered a problem with my LCX27c. When I start my outboard the Lowrance shuts down. Any suggestions: wire directly from battery to LCX? High starter load? Weak starting battery? Or?
I have had the same thing happen to me. I figured it was because of the battery draw from the motor or something. It doesn't always happen, just once in awhile.

How old is your battery? I would suspect the battery may be at the end of its life:deadhorse: and when you put a current load such as starter the voltage is dropping below what your locater needs to run at.
You could take a volt meter and put it on the battery leads next time you start it and see what it drops to?
If you do upgrade batteries step up to the next size

I had the same problem with a 332. It was a weak starting battery. New battery, no more problem.

It was a weak starting battery. New battery, no more problem.
Same here - after many years of use, my cranker battery would only take a 3/4 charge on one cell from my on-board charger w/a 5 bulb check. New battery last week & no more Lowrance & RayMarine startup problems...

The battery is 3 years old. My Globalmap which is connected to the same wiring harness never shuts off. I'll watch the voltmeter on the Globalmap when I next start the gas motor and see what the voltage drop is.

The problem is each year the GPS/Sonar needs more drawing power and when it drops below a minimum it safty shuts it down.
MY TR1 needs a better battery as well as a Humminbird 1197. These draw so much you need a top notch Battery and a Stealt1 Battery charger now !

Cant wait to get this on my boat now , it's been ordered. Will let you know how it works!
Here are the Humminbird draw's , you can see the 1000 series is 100% greater draw 2008 product over 2006 and before.
100, 300, 500, 700 & old 900 (987, 981, 947, 937, 931) series-
Input: 120V AC
Output: 12VDC 1000mA
New 900 series (917, 957, 967, 997)-
Input: 120V AC
Output: 12VDC 1200mA
1100 Series-
Input: 120V AC
Output: 12VDC 2000mA
This is just if you are making your own…
Hope this helps,

I'll bet the cost of my new battery that it is your starting battery. My old battery was 4 months over the 2 year warrenty when my global map would shut off when starting the main motor. I should have known but I had to launch once to a dead battery to get me to load test it.
Take your battery in have it load tested.Just my humble opinion

it isn't a battery. let me guess you run a ranger boat..... if you run a ranger run a seperate ground wire from the units to the battery. that will cure your issue!!! Ranger has a screwed up ground system. do that and it will cure your issues!!!!
