View Full Version : Lowrance LMS-240
Lowrance has a new combination sonar/GPS unit out called the LMS-240. Does anyone know anything about it? Good? Bad? What...? Thanks in advance.

It replaced the LMS 160 and the big difference is you use an mcc card in it and also the screen has more pix in it. The 160 you down load with a computer into the machine and the 240 you use a mcc card. other that that they are the same for the most part.
The 240 has WAAS also. Was told they wouldn't be available for a few weeks yet. Have you seen them on the shelf?

Basically, it is an X-91 with GPS and some extra features. Cabela's has them on back order and my boat dealer is telling me it will be the end of April before they get them in.

Cabelas catalog shows them for $609.00 with Speed and Temp sensor.
People have told me that the Garmins are more "user friendly" then the Lowrances.........easier to use. I'm in the market for one, and am wondering if this is true. Also, do you not need a computer to download maps withthe Lowrance, as you do with the Garmin?
