I was looking at the 797 how are they? I am most intrested in the side imaging. I do alot of river fishing for catfish, looking for underwater structure. I had a friend show me some Humminbird snapshots from his 900 series. They were great. Is the 797 about the same. Is there a thru hull side imaging transducer? I was looking at Jason PRZEKURAT ranger his mount looked differant than others. Mine will be going on a ranger too.

I have a 797 and it is amazing. you are not likely to notice the resolution difference between the two units because of the smaller screen of the 797. A bigger screen would be nice; i would have liked the 997 but it's just too big for me. I wish they made one comparable in size to like a lowrance lcx-27.

Even with the 797 you will still find yourself staring at it in awe.

by through hull transducer, do you mean shoot thru hull, or drill hole through hull? shoot through, no. Drill through, yes.

is an amazing source of knowledge and install help. Transducer mounting is critical for all the SI units.

Thanks for the pic's. It looks like the drill thru was the one that jason had. I was looking at Reeds web site and they have the 797 c2 si for $689.99 will call to see what trans it comes with.
