hi all,

I'm greatly confused with the state of Illinois. can't they just make it easy on the mentally strained, like me :)

well I've had this boat for almost a year, totally forgot about registering and paying taxes on it. I haven't used it, as it needs some repairs before i trust her in more than 2 inches of water. Any help with what forms to fill out and where they need to be sent would be great. I have a couple of copies of the RUT75 (correct tax forms? for in state private sale?) but am not sure where to send etc. since it is late, I know there will be a penalty, but how do I figure it out?

is this a correct address to send the tax payment?

I did download the pdf of the Watercraft Registration/Title Application Form, but can't do anything till I get the taxes sorted out, correct?

thanks for your assistance everyone, I would finally like to get this taken care of before I get sick or injured again, as I seem to be clumsy of late

According to this link: http://dnr.state.il.us/admin/boats.htm#Tax the instructions for mailing should be on the muti-part RUT-75 form. If not, call the Taxpayer assistance #'s listed on the link. Have you been to the Secretary of States office yet for the trailer plate & registration?

I went to a currency exchange. They handle it all. Transferred boat title, trailer title, boat registration, trailer registration and payed the sales tax. Just bring the old boat title, trailer title and some kind of receipt of sale. I can't remember what the currency exchange fee was. I'd say under $50.00. It was worth it to me. I was finished in 30min.

I sold my old boat in a private sale this spring -so I really didn't do any of this, the other guy had to. I know that during the process, he came back to me and said that he needed a bill of sale that had the sale price for the boat, motor, and trailer broken out. He said something about paying tax on the boat but not the other two (?).

Don't take this as an answer - just giving you another thing to think about..
