It's a Sluggo-type bait that I saw Roland Martin hawking on TV last weekend. It's a little more flexible than a Sluggo, so when you "kill it", it has a nice wobble as it settles to the bottom. I was thinking of trying it for smallies.

Here's a link to a web site that tells you all you want to know about Senkos (except how they work for walleye):

I have used them before on smallies and they work great. I normally just tie on a 3/0 hook and use it as a jerkbait (no weight). It is abnormally heavy and casts a mile even without weight. The thing that I find unique is that when you jerk it, and then let slack in the line, it falls backward some. Seems irresistable to skiddish smallies. It is the number one bait for a number of bass pros on the follow fish. I started using them after a friend got the recommendation on using them from Jay Yelas at a Skeeter photo shoot. Now I don't leave home without em' when I am out smally fishing. Not sure how they would work on the walleyes though.

Senkos are a great bait, and one that I use for everything. They're made by Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits (www.baits.com). They're a classic presentation for bass, but walleyes love them too. Here's a great link to rigging them, http://www.insideline.net/articles/rigging-guide.html. Rigged weightless is my favorite when they're shallow.
Try any of the Yamamoto baits--they're great.

Mckoz,
Speaking of salmo's do you know where I can buy them and have you ever used them? Since I asked so many questions I'll ask one more, how have you used them? lol
Thanks,

Eyebuster,
I've bought them at Gander Mountain - also bought them at the local bait store. I've used both the small chubby darters 1 1/2 to 2" for jigging. I like the firetiger perch and the crayfish.
I really like the big Musky size ones for trolling - had a blast with the Pike style. I had to special order them last year but see there are a lot more places handling them now.
Ask B.E. about them - i think/know he uses them more than me! Only complaint so far is that the Northerns gobble em up when you use them in the shallow weed lines!

Mckoz,
Thanks for the reply and the info. I've checked Cabella's and some of my local bait shops, all the people I've talked to or asked them if they have these lures they looked at me like I was nuts. How they knew that was beyond me.lol Thanks again I'll try Gander Mountian tomorrow.

Been using senkos and yammy tube baits for walleye for awhile now. Got a nice 13 pounder on a yammy tube jig last year.
These are a rave bait right now and they should be because they work. Started off big on smallies. Great for suspended fish.
If anyone wants some good rigging techniques for senkos feel free to email me.

you got some good info there, go to gary yamamotos home page, thay do work on eyes, the bait is a do nothing type of bait the less you do with it the better it works, they also work well with a drop shot rig and a splitshot hook, as i said its a bait you DON,T want to over work once its at the desired dept just let it sit there for a few seconds and if no takers a small twitch and let sit, the biggest problem is most people tend to overwork them, and also its a great smallie bait they work wonders, good luck with them i think if you work it right you,ll do ok.

Hot Jigs makes a bait just like the Senko, except it has more salt. They also sell them for about half the price. I think they have them in 6 or 7 colors.
