What are the advantages and disadvantages of snap in carpet. For those who have snap in carpet would you order it again if you bought a new boat?

Thank you.

I like mine. It I am fishing for catfish I can snap it out. And not have it in the floor. But on hot days I put in back it. Also nice to lay it out in the basement and use a vacuum on it.
And Yes I would order it again.

I have it and would absolutely want it again. I take it out for when we go up north camping. We use our boat for both a family/ski rig and a fishing rig. I try to keep the carpet nice for when I'm out with my family. The snap out carpet is a really nice feature.

I got it for the first time in my rig this year and wouldn't order it without again. Great on the feet. Easy to remove if don't want it in for wet weather and also to dry out and clean.

No, I wouldn't order it if it didn't come with the boat. I kept it in the first year. I started the second season without it installed, it's been rolled up in storage since. I can't ever see installing it again. The textured floor in my boat has plenty of grip, it's easy to keep clean and a heck of alot cooler in the summer. No tracking dirt in to the carpet...etc. Rinse down the fish slime/blood/cola/beer any time, just grab the little bucket and use lake water, washes right down, clean. No soaked carpet.

No more carpet for me. Wife says the same thing.

Mixed feelings. I love the feel of the carpet and it looks good too.

However, my snap out carpet has a backing on it that absorbs water and if I put it away wet, with a fan on, it takes 4 days or so to dry and as such can get "stinky". Only good way is to leave in sun until dry which usually isn't possible.

I've been running without it to avoid worrying about drying it.

I must agree with Went522 on this.
I keep a clean 5-gal bucket onboard for transporting minnows and wash-down.
A little clorox and a brush keeps it clean and white.

I like having the ability to remove the carpet from the boat and set it on the driveway to power wash it. I would definitely order again if I ever changed boats.

I have a 1800 Pro V with carpeting. I ordered the snap in carpet and installed on top of my existing carpet. I like the extra padding with both layers. I also like being able the pull out the carpet and hose it down if the kids spill. My next baot will have snap in carpet 4-sure.

I really like it - it's one of those items that you can't believe they didn't think of sooner. Very easy to take out to clean or dry as others have said.

But even if you don't like it much and usually go with the clean floor - when you go to sell the boat, the next guy may really like it. And if you don't use it much, it will look like new.

I don't think you should buy something just because of the resale value, but it's a consideration. That and sometimes that carpet just feels really good on the toes.

Why would you want carpeting in a fishing boat?

Carpeting will get trashed if you leave it in while fishing (dirt from worm containers, fish blood, fish slime, etc.)

If you decide to not use it on a given day, then that's just one more thing you have to stow.

There's a reason hardcore fishing boats don't even come with the option for snap in carpet, and have onboard washdown systems and deck drains.

You would not believe how much dirt accumulates on the floor of my boat, and how fast it accumulates, while I'm fishing for Walleye on Lake Erie. Especially when I'm using worm harnesses.

If you take care of a boat with carpet, It will last. My last boat with carpet, Is over 15 years old. And I gave it to a buddy, And the carpet still looks like new in it. And it was used for over 5 years hard by me. I fished 200+ days those 5 years. Then the last 5 around 100 days per year.
But It did not stay outside when not in use also. And the carpet i the Lund, I think will look new in 20 years. I take care of my boats. I know people in 2 years of lite use there's are junk. But they do not clean it just keep walking the trash down into to carpet.

I bought a new lund fisherman and i thought the idea of snap in carpet was a good idea with having a golden retriever. But when i saw a boat with it i thought this wouldnt be good with all the locks around all floor bases and on top of rod locker.. My toes are glad i bought carpet
