Neat article, thanks for sharing. Too bad things have to get that bad before they start to fix the problem.

Hi Boatnut,
I have been fishing lake Cumberland for walleye in the fall for over 15 years with my family.
This lake is a great walleye fishery. Many of the main lake points are loaded with nice (not huge) walleye in September and October. The fun part about the walleye fishery in Lake Cumberland is that I never see anyone else fishing for them. Everyone seems to be targeting stripers that time of year. We catch bunches (20-30 fish days are not uncommon) of 15 - 24" walleye but have never caught any large walleye in lake Cumberland. I'm sure their in there, but we've never caught any. We only keep a few for dinner on the houseboat a couple of nights of the trip.
I fish Lake Erie a lot, but still look forward to the Cumberland trips each fall.

Kim,
thanks for the info...I'm based at Laurel River Lake just east of Cumberland. I've striper fished cumberland several times but no walleye..yet. Planning a trip over there last weekend in april and also first weekend of June...hoping to get both stripers and 'eyes.
Biggest walleye out of Laurel so far is almost 9 pounds but i know there's much bigger ones in there.
good luck.
