Just looking for a bit of help today. My dads GPS has not worked for about 2 years now on his old LMS-350A. Not to mention the unit itself goes a bit crazy every now and then. But, I just heard about this the other day and he is one of those old German guys that won't buy himself a new one. So i have taken it upon myself to do a little research and get him one. I should first mention that he really only makes it out fishing about 6-8 times a year so a big $2000 unit is not necessary but something with GPS and color would be nice for the type of fishing he does. I came across a sale on the Hummingbird Matrix 97 at Cabelas. Seems like a good unit with a slightly larger screen than the real small ones. Just wondering if anyone has any experiance with these and if it would be a relatively simple and foolproof unit for someone who is quite technology illiterate. I'm a little scared to do anything in the lines of a Lowrance because of the issues they have been having and he is not the type of guy that will be very patient with a faulty unit. So i guess if anyone has any info for me on one of these units i would appreciate it. My second choice is the newer 700 series color unit that Hummingbird has. Screen is a bit smaller and his eyesight isn't what it used to be so i kind of like the idea of the bigger screen. But any info would be appreciated, by me and i'm sure my Dad once he gets his new unit.

Thanks,
