I'm not sure even what question to ask.!! I can lay a plot trail with all the turnes ect ect. but I can never "save" that path for latter use?? The unit will show me a path to a waypoint[s] but only "as the crow flyes" ie: straight lines, not a path that was laid down as I travled.??? I know I have to name the rought ect. I'm quite sure the unit is o.k. I have read the manual too many times!!! I NEED HELP. any help!! THANK YOU.

I think what you need to do is save it as a route. Its been a while since I have messed with mine. I will check it out if no one else can help you. I dont think you can save individual screen traces, just routes of waypoints.

Routes are the straightest line to a succession of way points . Not the (path) you may have traveled .
It is critical your routes are planned to avoid hazards . (low water area , rocks , man made structure , etc .)

I think he wants to save the trace to go back to it while fishing. But, then again, maybe not.

Guy's is that to say I cant save an actual plott trail?? If I understand "Perchjercker" I would need to do a straight line "connect the dott's [way points] around hazzards?? This would be a route of [in my case] short way p. to way p. straight lines ?? This is the best I can do ?? can I lay a plot and follow it back in any way?? I some times try and I have run out of plot?? do I need to slow the "update" More PLEASE!!!! THANKS

Dave if I understand your question; the 350 will save waypoints (a single spot) and routes (several waypoints connected by straight lines). It will not save a plot as layed down by the plotter option.

Correct, you have to save a point on every major turn then save it. It does work pretty good for when I fish the Canadian shield lakes, going around Islands and hazards. Dont be shy about mashing the button, you have lots of memory on this unit.

dave,
as Reels said...you can put a "marker" in at every critical turn. also go into menu and re-set your update rate, this will give you longer plot trails before it runs out of memory..but be careful..if you choose to long of a delay between updates..you might miss critical turns. I think choices are like..instant, 5sec, 10 sec, 60secs etc.
hope this helps
