I am curious about what weight oil every one uses in their pull vehicle, I pull with a GM 5.3 and I normaly use 5-30. should one use 10-30 in the summer or when pulling our boats or should we stick with 5-30 ?

Tim, my independent mechanic swears by 10-30 so that is what I run yr.-round. 93 Blazer and 87 Suburban. Have never had a problem in 15 yrs. with any of my vehicles.

Try ams-oil its what I use in my truck, boat and every thing that takes oil. I use the series 2000,0w-30 severe service 100% synthetic motor oil in my truck. You wont have to change it for a year.

Tim,
According to the service manual and talking to GM service Managers, GM recommends 5W-30 if the outside temp can get below a certain temperature (40F ? don't remember for sure). 10W-30 is fine if the outside temperature will not get below that. They really don't recommend a higher viscosity. I am a believer in semi or full synthetic oils. I run valvoline synthetic 5W-30 all year. It doesn't get thick in winter and has a much higher breakdown point.
