All this wind has caused my boat to get blown off line a couple times when loading and I've had the carpet on my trailer wheel wells get separated. What's the best waterproof glue to use to get it back in place? TIA
PS: Has anyone successully put a strip of rubber or something similar on the wheel well tops?
Ron,
Use rubber based contact cement.
Remove the carpet, and preferably get new carpet trimmed to size.
Clean up the carpet mounting board.
Open the can of glue and put a nice coat on both the carpet board; as well as on the back of the carpet.
Let the glue dry until the carpet is still just a tiny bit tacky.
Line up the edges of the carpet and the carpet board and stick together.
Remember, with contact cement, you have one chance to get it right.
Don't get any wrinkles in the carpet as you lay the carpet on the board. You won't be able to easily remove the carpet from the board.
After putting the carpet on - it is not a bad idea to go around the edges with good long stainless steel heavy staples.
Take care
