I have a 2006 Navigator 175CS with a 2008 suzuki DF140 on it. Right now All i can get out of it is 42MPH on GPS. I'm running a 21" prop, 2nd hole and reving out at 6000 RPM.What is eveyone else getting with similar setup? I was talking to a guy with 2008 Alumacraft navigator sport with the same motor same prop same setup. and he's getting between 48 and 50 and the boat is heavier. Has alumacraft changed their hulls. Or is there any other reason that i'm not getting that performance. Thanks

08 Navigator Sport Dual console, Yamaha F115 and F6 fully loaded Yamaha black steel 13X19 prop getting 6000 rpms and 42 mph consistent on the GPS. You may want to play the prop game and see what you can get out your rig. Good luck.

Hammersnake.....where does the water come off the hull at WOT trimmed up? I had to send my Nav into alumacraft....got 5mph out of that alone. They had to "tune" the hull in the rear. Now that I know what I know I would have done it myself. My 165cs with 90 suzuki goes 38-40gps depending on weight. Also I am running a 21 aluminum suzuki prop....you should have a higher pitch I'd think???....I have the engine mounted in the middle hole. I could probably go up too!

I had my transom peened on my 1997 Alumacraft Magnum CS as well. Took my top end from 38 to 42. The spray was coming from about the position of my shoulder as I sat behind the wheel. After peening, it moved all the way to the back of the boat. Big difference. Just FYI.

Yep it makes all the difference in the world! Just wished alumacraft would have had a dealer do it!!! Took a couple weeks to go from here to alumacraft and back.

Thanks for all the replies. We did end up trying a different motor off our dealers demo boat and we got the same results. Now it sounds like alumacraft will take the boat back and try to make it perform as it should.

Hmmmm. A dealer did mine -- in fact it was our own Frank Gailloreto. He took a 2 pound hammer and peened it. Did a great job too. I guess your dealer just hadn't dealt with that situation before -- or thinks there is more to it than a hooked hull. It was a pretty basic fix.

While he was at it, Frank raised the motor for me too. I don't recall how many holes he raised it. But he said the boat had never been set up properly in the first place by my original dealer. (Vern at Alumacraft sent me to Frank when my big-name dealer who sold me the boat new couldn't get the boat fixed properly -- but that is another story.)

Frank took care of it in 2 hours!

Glad yours turned out ok, though, regardless.

Vern is not there anymore. Sue was the lady I dealt with and told me too many dealers messed up the peaning and they took care of it now. They did do a top notch job on mine. It performs very well and even corners better. It does suck to be without a boat for a few weeks though. I guess there is a downside to having a boat that will take any make motor on it.

Yah, Vern retired a while ago. Big loss for Alumacraft, but I am happy for Vern.

I didn't realize that Alumacraft no longer let dealers do that work. Makes sense, however. One wonders why Alumacraft doesn't improve their production processes to eliminate that problem ... it happens often enough!

Glad yours turned out well.

Well the thing is this...my boat was bought originally with a 90 etec. It plowed, I had the hull adjusted. Now last summer I put a 4stroke on it....about 100lbs heavier. I was told it may have to be adjusted again. See they make it adjustable so you can put any make motor on these boats. Now my dads crestliner seems to plow a little and there ain't a thing you can do about it. And No I didn't adjust the hull for my Johnzuki, now the boat just comes OUT of the water and lucky me it doesn't porpoise. Strange though I had 3 people all have the same boat, from the same dealer, in the same year contact me in 2006 about this. Bad production run??? Maybe, or just 1 lazy a$$ employee that is suppose to check these with a straight edge. Also nice to see the BIG dealer in Shawano has no clue how to fix this!!! Now that I know what I know I'd do it myself.

I have a 08 Navigator dual bubble windshields with a 150 opi. Running a 19 inch factory prop, motor set second hole up.T8 kicker motor and trolling motor with two batteries and about 1/2 tank gas and I will run at 50 mph on gps. rpm's will be about 5800.I can get alittle faster if I trim up and put my rpm's about 6000. But 50 fast enough for me!!

Like a golf ball? So that the water won't "stick" to the bottom of the boat?

No, flattened, so that the last 6-8 feet of the hull is razor strait (bow to stern) to the transom. It removes any "hook" in the hull that would prevent the bow from lifting as positive trim is applied.
