Well, I did it. I purchased a new Wristsaver rod from Neil at the Sportsman Show in Fargo this weekend. When I first put it in my hand, it felt a little odd. I then went over to the Reeds display and priced up some packages. It was hard to purchase this package over a Shimano and St Croix but at least the rod is made from a St Croix blank and looks and feels great! I am excited to give this a try. The rod is very well built and the reel seems very smooth and well built also. Not sure where the advantech reel came from but it has 6 ball bearings with one being in the bail guide.

Come on open water, I am ready to start jiggin with this new stick...It really feels great!

Anyone out there using this combo, let me know how it has worked for you.

Hey Hawgeye,

On behalf of Wristsaver, thank you!
Ya see, an old dog CAN be taught NEW tricks.lol
That advantech reel IS smooth and works just great. Isn't it an interesting question...where does that come from? That same reel with 'another name' on it, sells for mooooore $$.
Have fun!!! Thanks again! Show all your friends.....
