I have a 2004 Minn Kota 74 lb Power Drive Auto Pilot w/ Co Pilot and two remotes. I change the Co Pilot batteries every year but have always had a problem with the direction buttons on the remotes. Seems they work ok right after the trolling motor batteries are freshly charged but after running the trolling motor for a hour or so the direction buttons have to be pushed extra hard to move the motor. Sometimes they won't work at all until I wait awhile and then push. The on/off and speed buttons work great all the time. I recently changed over my trolling motor wiring from 12/24v to straight 24v but was fishing all last week and it didn't help. I tried putting an o ring between the remote battery and back case as one poster suggested recently. Guess that was to hold the remote battery tighter but it didn't work either. Has anyone else experienced this and found a fix? Thanks for all responses

I basically was having the same problems with my co pilot on my 55 # minnkota, which I believe is a 2005 model. Some buttons worked and some didn't. I tried changing batteries etc, and finally bought a new remote from Cabellas for $50. I bought 2 of them while I was at it. Be careful that you get the right model, as there is a newer model that probably won't work with the older motors.

I had to replace one as well. I bought two of them off ebay for $50.00. I did a search and then set up an email notification when any of the remotes were available for sale.

Those remotes retail for $55.00. $50.00 on E-bay is no deal, Too much risk. Buy it from a dealer.

I got two remotes for $50.00. That's $25.00 each includes shipping and no sales tax. Just buy from someone with positve feedback. Actually the seller I bought from was a boat dealer/tackle shop from a southern state. Now that is a sweeeet deal! BTW, $50.00 each is the retail cost at Cabela's or BassPro Shops. Your quote of $55.00 is off- overpriced.

You are arguing about $5.00. WOW!
