Contact Offshore@offshoretackle.com and request the Off Shore Release Newspaper. It will give you some ideas about planer boards.
Remember, all it is is a directional bobber that goes out to the side.
It is more difficult talking about how to run them than it is to use them. Try to find an angler in your area familiar with boards and go fishing with him. There are many variations and styles and will take a lot of reading to understand them.

Get most any of the Kieth Kavajecz(SP?) and Gary Parsons videos from Bass Pro Shops. I like "Crankbaiting for Monster Walleye" in particular. They also have several on trolling. They go into detail on planer boards, snap weights, etc. Well worth the price. I think they are more informative than In-Fish videos.

Paul,
I'm an Off-Shore Pro-Staffer and I'd be happy to help, but it would be best done if I knew what your specific questions are. Go to "boatohio" click on "boating forums" then an "ask the expert". I'll look for yor specific questions there. We'll get you goin' and it will be easier than you think.

Go to the walleye products section of this web site. There is a book how to set up and run planer boards.Might be worth checking out. Also precision trolling will be another must have.If you subcribe to the insider you can order one of thier videos for $4.95 look for the card inside the mag.Good Luck and have fun with your new tool.

Paul, If you live within a reasonable driving distance of Green Bay, we are doing an Off Shore day at Bobs Bait this Sat. from 9-3. In addition to a board "tune-up" booth, we will also have staff on hand all day demonstrating trolling tips and tactics as well as a seminar at 11:00 done by Bill Koehne. If you can't make the drive, e-mail me your address and I have some articles and other reference material I can send you.
Take care,
