Im looking at some 2010 pro guides and was wondering what motor is the best for this set up.
Is the verado to heavy for the boat or does it perform good. I back troll and troll cranks alot just want some honest opinions. Also what are the speeds of the two motors top end and trolling? will the verado bring better resale?

I have a 175 verado on my 1800 prov and love it. I get 52 mph out of it and can carry a conversation at cruizing speeds with out having to yell... A pro guide and my prov would be very comparible in weight and the same hull... If they were too heavy they wouldnt let you run them oon these boats. They are just heavier than two stks. The pro xs would be faster but being that it is a tiller and you back troll I would definatly opt for a four stk verado... No snoke and alot less smell... SUPER QUIET also....Good Luck:cheers:

I have a 175 Verado on my 1900 Pro-V and to say I love it would be an understatement... there are some guys on the tour I fish that have the pro xs and I move just as fast... but with a **** of a lot less noise. I have the smart craft gauges and dialing in the Verado to troll is and absoulute treat and...less noise for the fish. I did tons of reasearch and spoke to six different Mercury shops about the motors and well like I said there is a Verado on my machine.

I have the 2010 Explorer Sport (almost same hull) with the Verado L-4 200 (weighs the same as Verado 175)--plus I have a 4 stroke kicker.
Not too heavy.
The boat sits pretty darn flat.

Feel free to call about the 175hp. Merc tillers you have questions about.

I'd have a tough time deciding between those two motors as well. Couldn't you put a 200 Verado on that hull? I thought the 200 Verado was on option on that boat as well. For me, that would probably help me decide.
I saw one in Canada with a 200 on it, but they do some funny stuff in Canada at times too when it comes to tiller motor size.

2009's are rated for 200 according to the '09 Lund brochure.

I would suggest to try to find someone with a opti on a 2010, I have a 2010 with just an opti on it. The Pro XS is not going to give you that much more of a benefit unless you got money to burn. I can say that the Verado is 100 lbs heavier and it will make a big difference on the back end. The Opti runs 50, 51 mph which isn't to far away from the rest of them. The fuel mileage is great and the oil consumption is minimal. 4 Batteries and an extra 100 lbs. in this boat probably going to be a wash for gaining any fuel mileage with a Verado or the Pro XS and you paid more for them. I would like to know how the verado's are performing on the 2010.
